Gomal University, also known as GU, is a public university in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It was founded in 1974. It is the second oldest serving university and one of the major universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It was established by Pakistan Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who dedicated the foundation stone for Gomal University in DI Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On May 1, 1974, Prime Minister Bhutto presented the foundation stone for Gomal University, continuing his policy of a highly educated Pakistan to face current world challenges in all facets of life.
Nawabullah Nawaz Khan, the University’s first Vice Chancellor and founder, made the grant and supplied the land. Nawaz Khan contributed 11,000 Kn of agricultural land to the university’s establishment.
